golf lesson auckland

I started playing golf at the ripe age of 27. I never understood why I took so long to discover the game. Born and raised in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) have played most sports fairly well throughout my childhood and teenage years. Golf was quite dominant in Rhodesia, even in those days, as shown in the chart the likes of Nick Price and Tony Johnstone, who are of the same age as me.

My golf began in the CMR Golf Club in Johannesburg, South Africa. CMR (not to confused with Crown Mines, another popular club in Johannesburg), with once owned by Consolidated Gold Mine Main Reef was well designed and well maintained. The clubhouse was known for his social life and many was the time I learned that had the highest divorce rate (among the golf clubs) in South Africa!

The professional resident Don Elmore was ably assisted by his son Ron (also professional), his wife and daughter, whose names escape me. His daughter was actually a distraction for any golfer walking the pro-shop and I am sure that Don was aware that his presence was responsible for most of the pedestrians, who entered his store.

Ron's son, played the local circuit of winter and caddy for him one day. What an experience to be among such good players. This day is a whole story in itself same.

Ron seemed to have an interest in me after that and one day when I complained about my uncontrollable slice he gently suggested that reality was a bit of thrust, much worse than I feared. However, he also added that if I was willing to work on it would be able to get me the ball. The offer was too good to pass up as I had suffered with this terrible wrong for a very long time and had cost me a lot of money in bets!

Ron gave me a few lessons and I soon deliver the ball. I was delighted, but he was not satisfied. He said the correction was temporary and if it was permanent simply a matter of time before I would be back to my bad habits. To make it permanent he needed to become a prostitute and this natural pull is what we worked toward. Ron made me practice with instructions to return when he had caught at least 5 balls out of bounds during a round of golf. CMR memory there were only about 3 holes where balls were so OB 5 was a tall order.

Surprisingly the day when I reached my goal of connecting 5 balls assigned OB arrived much faster than I thought – and I was petrified. I had gone to cut the ball hitch to pull beyond any control! Ron was ecstatic and immediately began work on straightening me out.

To this day I can not remember exactly what he did, but memory of years I could draw after the ball as and when wanted. I spin control, which was consistent and had the distance. After winning three of four competitions drive longer at an event sponsored. I missed the 4th street narrowly lose out on a clean slate.

The world was my oyster and CMR and later the Club de Campo Roodepoort were my playgrounds. Those were happy days.

Highlights of my golf career is a hole in one on the 6th hole at Houghton Golf Club (14.01.89) and a hole one on the 7th at Roodepoort Country Club (01.07.97).

I've also got a Diploma in Coaching from the European Golf Teachers Federation in Auckland in 2002.

After my wonderful years of golf in Johannesburg, I moved to Auckland, New Zealand, so my kids could grow up in a normal society. But is it normal? New Zealand has some records that boast of their own and they are all great.

First, has more golf courses per capita than anywhere else in the world. It also has more boats per capita than anywhere else. In my opinion, has more sheep per capita (Australia would be the another contender for that title) and definitely has a great rugby team. Most All Blacks, play golf too.

Being an avid fisherman and a golfer in New Zealand has its drawbacks. Both sports are more suited to the weather and is often difficult to decide what to do on a fine day. Golf is very cheap here so often wins the day.

The golf courses in New Zealand are fantastic and plentiful and not uncommon peripheral courses who still use the sheep to keep the streets in check. In this situation, the greens are surrounded by a sort of barrier (usually electricity) to keep the sheep off. When the fence interferes with a shot or the posture of a free drop is permitted. It is simply picturesque.

My goal is next golf get my third hole in one, here in New Zealand.

I honestly believe my many years of enjoyment of the game of golf has improved the ability to play a draw and you I advise anyone who wants to master the game to learn all the different outlets. The draw is probably the best opportunity to play, and that gives you many more options.

What a great game of golf is. I have friends for life and can still play a draw is a bit more difficult to control because of my arthritis, but it's there.

Lee Trevino once said that happiness is a long walk with a putter and I could not agree more.

Learning to play a draw is not that difficult. You probably just need a little help.

The draw is probably the best shot in golf to provide you with maximum control. Don’t believe me? Check what Bobby Eldridge and his team have to say about this over at Pure Point Golf.

Bobby and his team can show you exactly how to play the draw shot. Why not take a look and get your game to the next level?

Hit ‘em straight and hit ‘em long.

Happy golfing!
